Spring Detangler, Spring Detangling Systems
Spring Detangling System AS SEEN IN ASSEMBLY MAGAZINE Vol.50 #6
Premier Tool works has been developing and raising the level of spring detangling capabilities for over 27 years. Systems handle bulk tangled springs, separates and untangles them then feeds them one at a time into the customer's assembly line or machine. This system is part of the current range of 5 types of Spring Detanglers currently offered by Premier Tool Works. This particular version of the 7300 system was modified to conform to pharmaceutical specifications (clean room). It dispenses 2 springs side by side simultaneously at a rate of one cycle per second or 2 springs per second. This compression spring is made of 300 series stainless steel approximately .312 OD and 1.875 long.
The 7300 system has a bulk spring reservoir/feeder with a capacity of .5 Cu Ft. for completely unattended operation. Bulk spring capacities can be altered to suit the customer's spring configurations and unattended time requirements. The detangler portion of the system has a number of unique features including spring orientation tooling built-in the Detangler. This integration significantly improves reliability by simplifying the orientation process. Another major improvement is an automatic detangler void gate, which operates periodically to expel the detangler's contents. Any device that is used to accumulate and orient parts, such as vibratory feeder bowls used for assembly will eventually accumulate an ever-increasing percentage of debris and unorientable parts. This eventually leads to reduction in output efficiency or total shutdown. The customer's assembly process therefore suffers from parts starvation and resulting in loss productivity. The system then requires manual intervention to clear out the offending accumulation of debris or unfeedable parts resulting in additional down time. Premier's exclusive designs have reduced or eliminated these recurring events, thereby offering users a more reliable and effective way to reduce operating costs.
The 7300 system offers a touch screen HMI (human machine interface). All machine functions are manually operable for quick and easy maintenance or troubleshooting. Comprehensive self-diagnostic help screens are included to further assist the technical support personnel. Host communication interface is provided to connect to the customer's assembly line or machine for easy integration.
The labor savings, process improvements and operating cost reductions provided by our systems are providing our customers a much-needed cost relief. The spring Detangler offers a significant cost and labor reduction in one of the last areas of manufacturing which may offer the end user an option to keep or maintain the production local instead of relocating outside the US.
