1900 SERIES SPRING DETANGLERS
Pictured here is a 1900C spring detangler with an integrated 1/3cu.ft. hopper and fully automatic feeder.
This unit incorporates our state of the art sensing technology (patent pending) to automatically fill the detangler as needed. It will then provide a continuous output of detangled and oriented springs via the tube outlet while operating unattended for several hours!
It also features automatic self-clearing to further enhance operational reliability.
These units are ideal for replacing unreliable vibratory feeders and for integration into automated lines. Operation is very simple. Calibrate by flipping a switch, load the hopper, and turn it on!

Centrifugal Spring Detanglers are used to unravel or untangle bulk tangled springs into individual springs. Premier Tool Works has applied much effort and improved the engineering to enhance this detangling technology. These highly successful units can be used with a wide variety of compression, extension and conical springs of various sizes and diameters. These systems provide detangled, singulated springs, forms, clips, etc. from their output chutes. Most compression springs with closed ends are easily and inexpensively detangled.
This is the simplest and quickest way to enjoy labor savings from your assembly operation. You can relieve your operators from this difficult and numbing process, reduce fatigue and improve you process! Your pay back can be assured, sometimes in as little as 3 months. You can even upgrade to full automation without losing any value since our 1900's can be fully integrated into a completely automatic operation when the need arises.

Detangling long or very short springs, some with unusual features or conditions is a challenge in which we excel. We have developed unique spring handling technology to detangle and feed springs without damaging them, yet delivering impressive feed rates of up to 100 springs per minute. We have achieved this performance by continuously developing the contact impellers and internal tooling technology to increase versatility and efficiency
Our systems reduce the space requirement and your cost when compared to vibratory bowl feeders which can sometimes complicate feeding by inducing tangling. We simplify installation either in your current machine or in a new system to a more convenient remote location. To answer your questions whether your spring can be detangled, we usually suggest that your springs be evaluated. Send us samples and we will gladly report the findings for your particular spring.
For detangling applications of springs smaller than .250" diameter, we offer other types of systems. The newest addition to our line of detanglers is the 1800 Mini Detangler and it can accommodate a wide range of spring, clips, or other tangled part sizes. If the 1800 series is unable to do the job on very small springs then one of our other units will probably be able to fill your needs. One of which is the Vortex I Miniature Spring Detangler & Dispenser developed over 25 years ago and its newer Vortex II larger capacity version. Both are pneumatically powered and the Vortex I detangles micro/miniature springs as small as .020" / .5 mm diameter.
Multiple feed lines are available which can be ordered with our spring escapement systems to meet any application. Other spring output configurations such as plastic tubes are available. Pick off stations for operator pick up are also available. We have single spring escapements including our unique programmable system (for very long or very sensitive springs) which does not rely on spring release and gravity drop as other systems do.

The spring pictured ABOVE represents our state of the art capabilities. It demonstrates extreme tangling due to its low coil count, barely closed ends and is easily damaged due to wire size and design .
At LEFT shows a fully automated custom system which detangles and feeds the spring shown.
The system above incorporates a large capacity hopper for unattended operation. It detangles, singulates and performs a 100% QC inspection of every spring with automatic failed spring rejection before final delivery to the assembly process equipment . This system demonstrates the Spring Detangler and our unique material handling technologies which are effectively integrated into a complete manufacturing process solution for our clients. We use proven PLC controls which can easily be integrated into other equipment if needed. On larger systems, we provide an operator friendly touch screen with built in diagnostics to help operators keep the equipment running.

Below are a pair of automated detangling and dispensing systems. These systems are less complex than the one pictured above. They have no QC function but still incorporate the same technology in a simpler package due to specific customer requirements.
